Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I understand completely! It's not uncommon for me to down to the undies. I got a shower this afternoon, hubby holding sleeping grandbaby and says dog needs to go out. Major eye roll, throw on night gown to take him out and right off when I got in. Needless to say we don't have visitors. My hot flashes aren't like they were years ago. After hysterectomy I've been on estrogen way too long in my opinion. I don't feel comfortable taking it this long. Since 2009 but skipped a couple years here and there. I was so so off balance years ago I'd be freezing indoors in the summer covered in heavy winter blankets. Found out you can get cold flashes also. I prefer hot flashes to cold. It's nothing like it was years ago. When I get a flash it's gone in a few minutes. My biggest issue has been the other problems that come from hormone imbalances. It's normal topic here about doctors and I'm just like most of you, don't trust them for most things. My gyno has been amazing for twenty years with one exception doesn't want to text my hormones. Over five years ago my primary told me to go to a compound pharmacy and get tested. It was $300.00 and they didn't take insurance. I said no thanks. Found something that worked on flashes but not other memo issues (if you know you know so don't need to talk publicly). So after three years went back on estrogen. Fast forward to my recent almost dying... talking to surgeon that took out my appendix about estrogen. The MRI showed gallstones but I don't have symptoms. He asked was I on the pill. I said no and didn't think anything of his question. On another visit after surgery I asked why he asked about the pill. He said estrogen causes gallstones😳 I never saw that in the side effects etc. He confirmed taking estrogen can cause gallstones. Just another reason to stay away from man made medicine. Yet, my Gyno never mentioned this. (If anyone wants to discuss private DM. Not everyone wants to hear about this because it might make them uncomfortable.)
I’m so glad you’re doing better after the awful incident you just endured. I was praying for you. We Carolina girls have to stick together. I never took anything but natural remedies during menopause. I refuse to put anything in impure in my body. It was tough for a while but I overcame. Don’t know if you have ever heard of Barbara O’Neill or not. She is absolutely fabulous. I listen to her over and over again. I’ve learned so much from her. She has a segment on balancing hormones. She is on you YouTube under her name. If she ever came close to me I would go. She is the reason I started on Celtic Salt and I order my bread through Simple Kneads.
