Agreed. Keep an eye on your kids at all times, don't fall for a chip. It's worse than a dog-tag.
Bring back stay-at-home parents. I don't care if it's the mum, or the dad. Maybe both of them can work part time, as long as the kids are always watched. What about solo parents? I hear you say. That is a very difficult question. Perhaps workplaces must allow small children to be near their parents anyway. There are plenty of times when a mum can still do work AND keep an eye on a small child wandering around. But then sometimes, they have to change a nappy or feed the child, and cannot answer the phone - as I said it is a difficult problem.
It was a mistake to forget about the children in the double-income pays the mortgage (just) ... idea. Leaving the kids to travel alone to school, and other places is a terrible arrangement in the current environment of predatory society. For a single-income family to become great again, means one wage-earner must be paid a living wage that can support an entire family, and that wage must therefore be enough for housing, food, clothes, school fees and holidays so that all those people are properly cared for. This can be approached in various ways: For example, housing is cheaper in rural areas, even ex-industrial areas, families will move there to save on housing, and perhaps gain some grass for the kids, So those rural areas must have a focus on fair-dinkum job creation, and support from fairly-priced technical job-training.
The ex-industrial housing is rotting and unsafe - get those building companies going. If the street was safe, the stay-at-home parent might even do renovation themselves. What must be done for all those drug-addicts and gangs, though? One must understand that this problem is not a matter of just 'getting rid of them' - they are a product of lost hope.
Side bonus: One-income families buy cars if paid enough, also washing machines, real estate - hey presto - a functioning economy with the endangered children cared for by their real parents.
