Thanks. I just went to look and check against the bills I have. I don't find any of the series.
Yeah I don't either, but I think some people are right on where they are. I'd bet the new series are sent to the places that need the most bills, probably overseas banks, exchanges, and then maybe big banks in the US (depending on how many bills they send in that need replaced, or how much extra money they need at the bank).
The dems would not waste the opportunity to get the new series out because they are the first in the US with 2 women signatures. It just takes a while once both sigs are submitted to carve the master plates. Then they have all the denominations - 1,2,5,10,20,50,and 100. I bet the 100s won't hit until next year since they wear out slower.
Don't think they would send $1 or $5 to Ukraine. Start looking at the smaller denomination starting today.
I was thinking more of places like Switzerland (where you can get almost any currency), or places like Turkey. When I was stationed in Turkey there was a huge trade in dollars, and their casinos used USD instead of TL. Taxis (taksis), restaurants, clubs, gold shops all wanted dollars and gave a better exchange rate than we got exchanging money on base.
As a matter of fact I went to Istanbul in their big downtown market and bought a lot of old bills from the US and other places. Got a 1929 2$ red bill, a bunch of old silver certificates, a Zwei Millionen Mark note, Iraqi/Iranian money including the fake bills we dropped on Iraq in the 1st gulf war, and even some rubles. All together the stack of bills is just over an inch high stacked. That market was great.
Oh. You talking about the open air market in Istanbul. Yeah. Heard it is one of the best market in that region. Never been to Turkey, but I know about the open air market some of the Muslim countries.
