Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I have had to find a job. I applied where my husband works last week, and got a call Monday for an interview yesterday. The lady was impressed by me and wants me to take it. The hours aren't ideal, in some ways, but I will be paid more than I ever have and my husband will step up to get our son after school and help with chores at home-- he gets to do the dishes. Yaay!
I've been praying and trusting the Lord concerning all of this.
Someone else was hired. The interviewer pretty much acted like no one else applied and it was mine. How lame!
Congrats. I've been washing dishes for years. My wife does most of the cooking and cleaning. I mend stuff. She makes sure that I have plenty of stuff to mend. This morning I mended an earring.
When I had "a job" I used the opportunity to gather information. I photographed and photocopied everything I could lay my hands on. I don't mean industrial espionage. I wasn't selling it to competitors. I was learning and some of the information came in useful when I started my own business.
Thanks!! Since I've been a homemaker, I make sure my husband doesn't have to do much when he gets home. He's always been willing to help when I work, thankfully. Our son is a couple years older since I last worked, so my working will be a different experience this time around and I'm looking forward to it. From what I've heard, I can always move to another position eventually.
I was offered a job at a franchise cookie store, but I really don't want to work with the general public. Yikes!
