Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Officially over two weeks sober! My friend I met here (ironically) is sobering up too, keep up the good work fren, you know who you are. Anyway she calls me up to congratulate me and asked what prompted me to quit and I told her the full story and she suggested I share. DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU ARE GROSSED OUT EASILY.
Couple weeks ago I was sick and getting sicker, had lost enough weight even my friends IRL are commenting. I assume it's something alcohol related and I DT 48 hours and still have stomach issues, insomnia, sore throat, loss of appetite, bowl issues... I start hallucinating, dizzy, exhausted but can't sleep and my ass won't quit itching. I have a breakdown and I'm sitting on the edge of town in my truck wondering what the hell is going on with me.
I feel this loogy in my throat that keeps coming back up no matter how much I swallow and eventually end up vomiting non-stop for a while. The loogy crawled out, nasty looking worm, clear thing with tentacles. I start driving to the hospital sleep deprived and grossed out by the most disgusting thing I've ever had in my body. Stop, violently puke up another one. Make it to the ER bloodshot eyes, puke up another tiny one in the waiting room.
The entire staff treats me like a junkie, mocking me about the imaginary worms. EKG, heart monitor, IV, UA, blood test as I keep telling them I have parasites. Hour or so later I hear them in the hallway mumbling in amazement that my blood and urine came back clean and I really wasn't on any drugs. They start taking me a little more seriously but leave me there alone for several hours. In that amount of time I not only diagnosed my myself figuring out I had Pin Worms but also but Ivermectin will kill the adults.
Pissed off I ripped out my IV, yanked off the EKG crap got dressed and drove to Tractor Supply, bought the horse paste. I was pooping strange and already feeling a bit better before anyone called from the hospital. I'm sober AND parasite free now and feeling better each day. Slept for 36 hours straight. F*** our judgemental worthless greedy medical system.
That'll get you sober!
But in all seriousness wow. I don't even know what to say. Glad you have a pede fren here to lean on, but it feels like IRL AA might help you quite a bit. I get the feeling that at the very least you'd find some people who could sympathize with your ER experience which, yeah, I've been there. Traumatic.
God Bless brother.
I've been going to AA. Found a really cool small group that even let's me take my dog, he's becoming pretty popular around the club. We go almostvevery evening.
