I had an experience where I almost drown..I am an excellent swimmer, swimming in my backyard pool as a child since birth...
However one time, as an adult, I was swimming in the lake with no life vest... all of a sudden the water around me under the surface started churning, I couldn't say anything. I was confused and fighting to stay afloat but no matter what I did this force underneath would not allow me to push the water around me to tread, luckily my spouse was right there, asked if I was okay, all I could was make eye contact as my mouth went under, they grabbed me and pulled me over enough to get me away from that weird churning around me. Drowning is silent..it's not a person yelling help me and flailing their arms around.

Thanks for sharing. I lost a close friend a few years ago, drowned in a lake, swimming to get his girls floatie.
