I'm not quite sure...I wasn't expecting any benefits other than curing the covid ...so everything else came as a surpise. I think I realized that the GERD was gone after about a month. I'd been taking massive doses of Rx version ranitidine (now pulled off the market) and omeprizole for years. Now if I have a flare up, it's always minor and a bit of baking soda and water takes care of it.
I can now sleep lying flat again. No more aspirating stomach acid into my mouth and throat.
I stopped taking omeprazole after I realized that the side effects of omeprazole are equal to the symptoms for which I was taking it. So I quit taking it and voila! No more tummy troubles.
Yep, it's list of side effects reads like a list of GERD symptoms. And ranitidine caused cancer...so IVM seems like a preferable alternative.
