I wonder what the reason is? I assume from what we are learning about him, it is a legitimate reason.

Stolen valor requires using perception of military for financial gain. Such as accepting a free meal, service that is normally paid for, etc. Also, how do you prove it was stolen valor vice a nice guy paying for your meal just because (happens on occasion)? Stolen valor is over hyped.
