As part of a swimming family I am trying to figure out how this will work.

There are only so many lanes for people to swim in. And it isn’t really fair to have these trans people swim alone as there aren’t that many of them and probably never will be. so I figure they would be competing in their own open category, but still in the water with the other swimmers.

They can still throw them into the heats with the other swimmers of their perceived gender. So males who transitioned to female may still swim with women. Their completion times will not be considered as male or female but rather in the new open category. This means they would still use the women’s bathrooms and still compete in the women’s heats.

I just don’t see how it would work otherwise
