Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I made an original post, but I thought I would check here as well.
I’m looking for information regarding how crickets are bad for you. Something about the Ecto-skeletal - and it being poisonous to humans.
crickets are a stupid idea for anyone in developed nations
However, third world nations are miles behind others in IQ and physical strength because of protein deficits during development and childhood. Crickets and other edible insects even the playing field for them. The effects of protein deficiency are 10000x worse than the effects of chitin. Also I don't think there have been completed studies on farmed crickets vs wild crickets like those consumed in Asian street markets, so we do not know yet if those negatives will apply
I searched "crickets" & "you will eat crickets" and didn't find much. Now I'm remembering it was "you will eat bugs" not crickets even though I found post for crickets. I remember several posts many months. I found two posts from 8 months ago but it didn't have the information you are seeking. I remember some comments about the safety. I think crickets are already in chips and flour in UK or Europe. The image of bag I saw said no allergens. Many people pointed out there's not enough research to know if people are allergic to crickets.
Here is my other post. I did get some answers here.

Glad you got answers.
Yeah, I’m putting together a super thread for my friend.
