It's not remotely that simple and anyone fully trusting or distrusting local police as a whole is being ignorant. Every town is different and you need to get to know your town and the ones near you. Many places are a mixed bag where some officers will act one way and the other very differently if some shit goes down. Try and know as much as you can.
