$435 million? That sure does seem like a lot of money for such a small base. Either that, or the cost of building is so high because of the difficulty in getting material there. Of course, it would be easiest to use Navy ships to move the materials there and have Seabees do the building. My guess is that it probably is being contracted out to some big construction company, which is why it costs so much.
