Dan Bongino has always had a stance that you are not arguing with someone to change their opinions, but rather to change the opinions of the people playing audience to your argument -- so that if you present your arguments calmly, factually and from a genuine point of view, you will make people think when the other guy goes off on you.

That is something I have tried to take to heart over years, but I have to admit that sometimes I just want to troll the shit out of these people.

My problem comes when people laugh at someone else's predicaments or misfortunes just because they like to see people suffer, and that is tangentially connected.
