Perhaps. Or perhaps, after attempting to open some eyes, he ended the article with words he hopes will protect him from a fatal "shoot the messenger" backlash?

Insights revealed in this article suggest he's smart enough to understand he is putting himself at risk by being honest with people who are powerful and "off with his head" casually cruel when displeased.
