It contains a smattering of historical fact (note that no political leaders were imprisoned other than perhaps activist communists), but the claim quoted above is simply wrong. Germans (as well as neighboring peoples from other countries), loved Hitler for the stand he was making against the bolsheviks and communism. They had just spent several years under the horrors of The Weimar Republic, and knew how bad things could get, and how much better they were under the NSDAP. They knew what was in store if Hitler failed, and the Red Army marched west.
