I guess we're spoiled in the US. The constitution and states' separate powers have made it a long bumpy road for the nanny state steamroller. Even socialist California state entities encouraged free thinking inadvertently when they used wedge issues like marijuana and car pollution to fight the federal government. I was just talking to a retired school nurse there with years of encouraging vaccination policies who was waking up to being mistaken. The fact that she can wake up on her own after so much propaganda is better than the situation in most Commonwealth countries.
Australia has a similar set up to the US with the Federal and State Governments. Australia copied the US system.
The States in Australia can resist Federal Government overreach if they see fit.
If The Australian Federal Government wants to enact legislation that impacts on State Governments, they have to reach an agreement with the States.
The problem in Australia was a weak, Cabal captured Federal Government that stood by and let State Governments persecute their citizens.
Fun and games for all! The frustrating part is a lot of people can't see anything wrong.
We still have the 2ND. amendment. And even if that were to go away. We still have boatloads of firearms. Legal or not, when push comes to shove, the bannana republic dictators, know we'll use them guns.
