I read an article from the NYT from around 2000? that talked about Reverend Wright and the "down low" the gist being that gay members of the Trinity Church community could do what they wanted so long as they lived on the down low and married and support a woman who may be too unattractive to find a catch.
There's so much Reverend Wright stuff from 2012 ish that I can't find the article now. It was interesting because it was written before Reverend Wright was nationally known.
Here's an excerpt that addresses O'Barry's gay relationship with F. M. Davis:
"Given the admitted bisexuality of Obama's Hawaiian mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, and Obama’s mental indulgence in the same, the honest critic has to think hard about this excerpt from “Pop,” a poem Obama wrote about Davis while in college."
(If you didn't know, butt sex makes you shart stinky, poo-stained ejaculate afterwards, which O'Barry is saying they both had, clearly from rump ranging each other.)
"A therapist who blogged under the label “Neo-Neocon” hesitated to call the interaction “outright sexual abuse,” but she imagined it at the very least “a boundary violation.” She explained, “This child feels invaded—perhaps even taken over—by this man, and is fighting against that sensation."
