I'm often short of funds. But I'll opt for some organic cabbage and some beans. Or spend on good groceries and never eat out. Things get difficult when you have a large family of picky eaters though. You are what you eat and those chickens are low vibe, tortured chemical laden creatures. I think it catches up to you in the end. I get why people eat them.
Totally agree with you. Eating out - especially the so-called fast food and prepared meals - is more expensive than many people realize.
I have a garden. Both me and my DH cook from scratch. Did so when I was working full-time with a commute. We rarely eat or get take out. Special occasions only. When fixed for time, we'll eat sandwiches.
I totally understand about picky eaters. It's just the 2 of us now save for holidays and the occasional family get together. FWIW, we get our meat every 6 weeks or so from Butcher Box and then freeze it. Top quality and it's cheaper than the grocers in our area charge.
