This question has been hashed and rehashed so many times on this forum. I think this is probably the one thousandth iteration of this subject. And it always comes down to this 1 issue.
Someone tries to justify why Trump had no choice, and yet they NEVER explain why Trump had to cheer lead so strongly for it. It's one thing to grudgingly hide the fact there is a minefield somewhere. It is quite another to actively encourage people to go into it. Sure, there is an argument that Trump made a strategic decision...that he was between a rock and a hard place and took the best path possible.
But that wasn't all Trump did. He went full on rock. He praised the vaccine beyond reason. And then he praised it some more. Why? Nobody can ever answer THAT question. Trump is very intelligent, an excellent speaker, and is quite adept at being coy with words. He also has some of the best minds on the planet behind him. There are a thousand ways he could have promoted the vaccine in a way that allowed each person to hear what they wanted to hear and believe what they wanted to believe. That would have at least allowed all of us to present alternative viewpoints to our friends and family who were convinced to take the vaccine due to his championship.
It is an enigma, and one that I hope Trump will personally explain someday under oath.
I guess the answer is there is no answer. Hopefully we get some clarity one day. Nice thorough explanation on your part. People like getting behind the "he had to" argument but no one has yet been able to explain the cheerleading. Thanks
Yep.
