Need some serious sauce to back this up. I prefer primary sources. The first Christians were the Disciples.
If you believe that Jesus was divine, and Jesus attributed to himself all the same names that YHWH used, then you’re in a little bit of a pickle with your theology. Follow me here for a second:
Jesus was divine
YHWH was evil
But Jesus attributed all the names of YHWH in the Old Testament to himself
And Jesus was put to death on the charge of Blasphemy - which is equating oneself with YHWH
Therefore, Jesus at least thought he was the same as the God of the OT
Either Jesus was the same as YHWH, or Jesus wasn’t and was seriously mistaken about his identity. But if he was mistaken, then he can’t be Divine. If Jesus wasn’t divine, then he lied about who he was and was the most evil of all because he declared himself to be the savior of the world all the while knowing that he wasn’t.
Yahweh is a higher dimensional being/ angel/ demon pretending to be the creator of the universe.
Jesus is divine, Jesus is the manifestation of the creator in the flesh.
Your arguments don’t have to force me to change my stance, they hold no water. But yet in the Old Testament you see the nature of Yahweh. In the gospel we know the nature of Jesus. Two different beings, two different teachings and guidelines. I chose to follow Jesus teachings, and will have nothing to do with Yahweh. Jesus wants me to believe in his message and sacrifice, Yahweh wants adoration.
YHWH and Jesus share the same Nature. What you see in the OT vs the NT is simply showing multiple sides of the same being: God. Just like I can be angry and loving or vengeful and forgiving and still be the same person/Being.
You're really kicking against 2000 yrs of highly developed Theology. The burden of proof rests squarely upon your shoulders to show why the past 2000yrs of Church History have been wrong.
Jesus wants me to believe in his message and sacrifice, Yahweh wants adoration.
Jesus will demand your adoration at the end of the Age. Better get your theology straightened out before then - your Eternity depends on it.
An angry God is not a rational God. Jesus was never angered to the point of killing. He had control of his ego…. The story of Jesus is simply to show us that we too can take the path of light, by serving others vs self. What do you think was the message when he washed their feet? And told them that if they do good to each other they are doing good to him?
There is no question about Jesus being divine. But I believe Yahweh to be an evil being. The first Christians also shared this view.
