any underwater drilling companies? or just natural tunnel systems? wouldn't there be a tidal difference in the lakes if linked to larger bodies of water? or are you suggesting that the tunnels are "normal / cave like" used for transport
I happened to be reading something and this popped up. So yes the subs can go from Lake Seneca to the Atlantic Ocean. See article for deeper explanation.
It says Seneca Lake has a “12-mile-long Cayuga-Seneca Canal that links both lakes to the Erie Canal. The canal locks can accommodate barges up to 40 feet wide and 200 feet long, so large test items or systems can be brought to Dresden from the Atlantic Ocean or the Great Lakes.”
I am not suggesting anything. I am saying it is widely “reported” there is an out-of-commission Navy submarine base and tunnel system. I was never in the base or tunnel myself so I can only say what is reported and what I have read which is readily available and fairly common knowledge in this circle. You are correct that it is fresh water, as part of a lake system. How it connects to a salt water body of water and whether there is a serious of locks to navigate through tidal changes and different bodies of water I do not know. I am not a civil engineer or submarine pilot. You might research more yourself and share how the Great Lakes, Finger Lakes and any fresh water bodies transition to salt water tidal bodies, if in fact they do.
