At the conclusion of journalist Andy Ngo's multi-day civil trial against Rose City Antifa, whose far-left militant members brutally beat the investigative reporter when he went undercover to expose Antifa's extremist activities on the riot-torn streets of Portland, a 12-person jury reached a verdict in the case Tuesday evening, reportedly finding both of the defendants not liable for all claims. ...
... In closing statements, defense counsel Michelle Burrows told the jurors that not only does she self-identify as an "anti-fascist," she strongly declared, "I am Antifa," ... Burrow instead defended anti-fascism and attacked Ngo's credibility as a journalist. Burrows also told jurrors that she "will remember each one of their faces." ...
... Ngo's legal team had hoped the landmark case would hold lawless Antifa extremists accountable.
He needs to be in front of an unbiased judge (if any are left) and stand before a jury of his PEERS. No accountability for giving that man a mostly peaceful brain hemorrhage!!!! What a horrible system we live in.
Xactly. I was on a jury once. Third strike case, battery or some such. Many hispanics on the jury.
It was a fist fight over a girl. White guy vs hispanic. White guy won the fight. White guy was getting in his car and leaving. Hispanic ran and got his gang of friends and attacked the guy and his car.
All the hispanics on the jury thot it was completely justified that the dude went back and got his gang to attack the guy. No amount of reason could convince them that once the fight between only the two guys was over…it was over. That getting his friends and escalating the fight was what got him arrested.
Other jurors said, “Lets just vote to convict so we can go home.” At that point I lost my shit and said heatedly, “What if that was you or one of your family? He deserves a right for a fair discussion and trial.”
I realized at that moment that unless you have a jury of your peers…meaning same culture or income or job title or religion or something…it’s hopelessly broken. We need a new system.
(Imagine a child rape case with a certain demographic that has no issues with child brides?)
Agreed. And maybe a civics/morality test.
