But is that near the coast? I wonder about lightning starting fires WELL inland (100s of miles from any coast, and well north of Canada-US border)

Sorry about that :) (but there is a reason hurricanes form in the tropics, and thunderstorms are common in the tropics; you HAVE to have humid air to form thunderstorms)
