Yes, as it has been said, this has been talked about. I've never read anything before that has said it was a treasure hunt MAP. The first time I saw map, was in the email about leaving behind a pizza related map. Nearly as soon as I saw Minor Attracted Person being used, I've seen it said here, that it was a distraction away from the true meaning of what they use MAP for. I've also seen here, it being described how they get their "maps".
