Taiwan is a mountainous fortress. The CCP has long known this...... It would be quite the endeavor to take it. The deterrents exist in the geo-political sphere as well. The US knows China is the go-to threat of being the reserve currency and Japan to the north is already on edge with CCP expansionism and would interpret an attack on Taiwan as a major regional imbalance and threat to them. The entire region of national governments are very wary of CCP expansionism.
