This jogs my memory back to when I was fixing homes in Long Beach Island, New Jersey after hurricane Sandy.
The insurance companies wouldn't cover the damage because the homes weren't lifted.
The homes weren't required to be lifted prior to Sandy
I know there were years long battles to get compensation and I'm fairly certain most didn't get it. If I drive there now, all the homes are 3 times the size of what they were.
I highly doubt the original owners were able to build up like that.
Which tells me they sold to developers and probably fairly cheaply.
It's a damn shame.
