All I can say is our homeowners and auto have quadrupled and we’ve never filed a claim. Hear many others saying same. WTF are they doing with all that money?
I've have thought for awhile that prices are going up not because of inflation but because the cabal is running out of money.
I just notice the insurance industry seems to get overlooked in the discussion, and people on the right seem to get awfully uncomfortable talking about it.
Working for Allstate during the BP Oil Spill woke me up. What kind of business lobbies make it absolutely illegal not to have their product and then charges you like crazy for something they don't actually want you to use and even more if you do use it. To know that they put a freeze on selling homeowners insurance when a hurricane is en route and they began to use a loophole in the policies, stating there was no coverage for "oil damage". It's one of the biggest scams this country has ever known.
Insurance would be a very ineffective way to get funding.
There is a lot of auditing/oversight, especially w publicly traded companies
Margins are not high, most insurance companies are 1 catastrophe away from being in the red (health insurance companies have even lower margins and have to make money elsewhere)
A lot of people inside insurance companies have access to the books and there aren't a lot of places to offload money
Insurance companies (at least the big ones) are EXTREMELY cost sensitive (hence why ur rates go up and they offer you discounts for paperless billing)

The fact that insurance is required on loans tells ya.

I figure the industry will have to cone to terms c with excess deaths soon, or go broke.

The first half of this presentation deals with that topic. The second half loses me every time.
