Sadly, most people do not understand that it makes a huge difference depending on how close the camera is to the subject. This picture shows what is possible.
The same person has been photographed from two different distances. The one marked 15mm was taken really close up. The camera would have been right in his face and the 800mm picture would have been taken many feet away with a long focus lens.
Could the photo settings account for such a large difference in the protrusion of the ears? I see from your example there can be a change, but the two "Fetterman" photos seem to suggest some kind of ear job was done. The other scars/creases/etc. appear to be on both, so I don't think it is a different person, unless there really was some purposeful cosmetic surgery done, but if so, why change the ears enough to make such a difference in photos?
You can see the principle at work in this picture. In the left-hand picture the ears would be invisible.
The closer you get the more the ears become hidden. So, I don't know whether Fetter's ears have had some "help" along the way but I do know that standing closer can make you nose bigger and your ears smaller.
Think of photographing two identical objects with one 6' away and one 12' away. The far object will look half the size of the near object. So if you ears are twice as far away as your nose that affect will apply.
It caught out the mappers who used photographs as well. The tops of mountains were much closer than the bottom of the valleys so their size was exaggerated. That has to be compensated for.
Camera does not change the shape of your head.
I am from PA this is not him.
I think you may well be right!
It’s sad that you got downvoted even once. They must not know that what you’re talking about is well documented already. The lens differences combined with lighting shadows and angles can make the same exact person look entirely different
That's him. Maybe ear surgery to tuck them in? Everything else looks the same to me.
His skull is entirely different.
