I understand where both of you are coming from - but my initial reaction was different than yours for this reason:
Being one of those geeks at school who always got straight A's in expository writing classes and other lame stuff like that, my brain always starts from a certain position.
Who is this for? What purpose did this [media, content, tweet, etc.] serve?
Seeing how this promo is drastically different in the entire tone and the sentiment it offers, I'm sort of wagering that it WASN'T meant for us.
So far what we've seen coming out from Trump's campaign was been some fairly dire and sobering stuff. The music has been operatic and somber in stark contrast to the cheeky and upbeat electric guitar riffs in this one. Most of the content has been Trump's own words, directly lifted from speeches at events or the like, focused on America in decline, important policy initiatives, etc.
That's our dinner. We all enjoy and take heart in seeing him walking with a bold, courageous bent, stepping off of aircraft or down a catwalk out towards a stage and the like, dropping serious notes about how utterly sad and shitty things have gotten in America without him.
This one, I think is for the normies and the libtards. Not ALL NORMIES either, persay, but a certain subset - I kind of think its for the range of individuals who have MORE RECENTLY begun to feel the aftershocks of 2020, within the last 12 months or so - financially speaking.
Its for that sort of middle to upper middle type that didn't begin to say "Oh SHIT" until eggs were like 6 bucks and gas was 4 dollars all of a sudden - and they actually had to start pulling out their credit cards if they wanted to get an extra Red Bull and a pack of smokes at the gas station 4 days before payday.
This an economically focused ad for sure - but the little notes of Patriotism (jet fighters flying overhead, Trump giving the little pew-pew pointer sauce) I really feel was put in there to just UTTERLY INFURIATE the Bill Maher and Rachel Maddow fans of this country. We're so used to that calm and cocky style and flourish that we can watch something like this and hardly notice.
But if you were someone who REALLY AND TRULY THOUGHT that Trump tried to SUBVERT DEMOCRACY and OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT you would just be so PISSED OFF to see him smirking like that against those pro-military patriotic backdrops, thinking to yourself some idiotic thought like ERMA FUCKIN' GAWD THESE PPL R A CULT L00K AT THIS FKIN SYYCO JUST ARREST HIM ALREADY! WTF
And it goes back to that age old indoctrination we all received since we were kids of this imaginary thing of what "politicians SHOULD behave like" or what sort of mannerisms are or are not "PRESIDENTIAL."
Complete [🤡 in America] horseshit, Lyndon B. Johnson was a [DS] tool and violated ALL of those prim and proper poof-isms, but we don't watch any film of him or know our own history worth a shit, INTENTIONALLY, so they can brainwash these libtists forever more with this feeling of Trump's etiquette being "wrong" or something, so he can't be President. (::tawdy British accent:: GASP! This is NOT the conduct of a...) 🤣
Save it for charm school, you weirdos.
It works! Worked on me, I will admit - and probably many of us who are also not afraid to say we had to cut through our former programming to realize that was all a bunch of horseshit lies.
So while I do agree the ad was a little bit watered down for those of us who are already "on board" I just see it as having been made to get the attention of a certain sect of normies, and to really gloat and piss off the remaining libturds in our country.
Just my thoughts though I could have it wrong. Godspeed, frens.
Wow, that was a mouth full...
I only meant I like the other vids full of patriotism, with Trump being kind and genuine when speaking with others, love seeing servicemen look at him with respect and gratitude.
This video seemed empty of meaningful and full of superficial.
Yeah, sorry! I wasn't like, arguing with you guys or anything. I agree. I like those kind of ads more too. I was just kind of exploring the WHY part of them putting out this kind of a promo, not trying to put you down or anything!
This video seemed empty of meaningful and full of superficial.
Right! That was exactly my point of why I think it was (in part) made to piss off the libs because it kind of confirms their viewpoint by being lighter and more superficial - and they of course think Donald Trump is a brain dead idiot - when he isn't HATCHING MASTERMIND SCHEMES to steal the election, I mean... 😅
I think there's also some normies out there who make really good money in a few different types of jobs still, and are kind of distant and shallow when it comes to politics, national pride, or religious values that this MIGHT also be an attention grabber for. Just a theory.
DEFINITELY went into deep water about it though, sorry! Its just how I be, can't help it. 🤷♂️
You are PERFECT and don't change! That's why I like the dialog. It's refreshing to hear everyone's point of view. Outside of work, I don't get out much and as work is healthcare field, no one talks politics. I get a feeling more folks are hating the current situation and even if they are 'afraid' to support Trump openly, they are not as 'vehemently' opposed.
