Not sure if you have read up on Orphan Trains, but this kind of reminds me of that.

I remember orphan trains...can't remember the video series I saw it in but it was an exciting series...I will do some looking...I think it was "Lost History of the Earth" by EWAR...a very interesting series... https://youtu.be/uDLRDYMN0bg
