My brother who lives in the Detroit area told me about those storms. He said the lightning was green. Not just a little green but emerald green. Very odd if true.
Wow...what a frightening mess...stay safe...you sound very prepared so you are ahead of the game...God bless you and yours...it just started storming in GA...
One of the kids that work for me lives in Williamston and had the windows blown out of his house by the tornado. I drove down Brighton Road (dirt road section) between Chilson and D-19 on Friday and there were at least 40 trees down on the road. They had a path cleared for one vehicle to pass. Overall I saw hundreds of trees down in the woods along that approx. 4 mile road. These were from straight line winds estimated near 100 mph through Livingston County, the hardest hit area. There were even a few oaks completely uprooted. A rare occurence, oaks have deep roots.
The rumors are the tornado was an F5. If true that would only be the second in Michigans history after the 1950 Beecher Road tornado so I have my doubts this rumor is true.
This storm came 1 day after we had between 2 and 6 inches of rain the night before. My garden is dead from all the rain this summer. Never seen anything like it.
Two of the kids yesterday were talking about a video they saw of green lights lighting up the sky just before the tornado hit. I havent seen it myself yet.
Power is still out over much of western Livingston County. I was in two subs yesterday near Fowlerville. Neither had power and there was still a downed line in one. The power looked cut off to it, I dont think it was live.
Somethings going on in Michigan and it isnt climate change. Its the wettest coolest summer in living memory. I have had my sprinkler system shut off since the end of June, which was perhaps the driest June I can remember. At the end of May we had 5 straight days of heavy rain and then went a full month without a drop. The grass looked like it was deep into August, burnt and brown. Since then it has done nothing but rain. Heavy soaking rains measured in inches.
Strangest summer weather filled with rain and smoke in my lifetime.

I lost power for two week here in oklahoma. Headlamps are a must.
Take care and be safe.🙏
Glad you are safe!
