If you are going to donate, find local organizations in Maui and not places like Red Cross or other larger entities. There are plenty of local operations that are getting the funds to where they are needed.
Exactly. Or if you know someone going (whom you trust), give them some money and tell them to spend/share with locals on whatever is needed. That's what I did. Gave as much as I could and trust that he'll put it to good use.
Good for you. Ignite A Life and the Maui Food Bank are helping on the ground handing out supplies. Anyone local is better than going with larger scammers like Federal NGOs and the Red Cross.
Is Family Life Center one of those?
I think so. There is also the Maui Food Bank. Maui Cardiology is also connected with distribution - especially trying to get medicine in. Not sure if they are taking donations but they may be able to direct you - they are involved with Ignite A Life that is helping on the ground. Hope that helps. I don't have the numbers but they would be places to start. The main thing is to tell people to donate to organizations in and from Maui and not outsiders.
Thank you for your very helpful reply.
