We have a law locally (not Michigan) that public officials aren't allowed to have private meetings like this.
They're likely operating outside the law just by having this group.
Most places have laws requiring meetings to have public access. Holding secret meetings probably falls under betrayal of public trust.
Or in this case, treason or election fraud at a minimum.
Sunshine Laws
A local town council got caught up against a sunshine law a few years ago. Pissed off a few people, who thought they should be able to have private meetings to discuss sensitive matters.
The corruption is top to bottom. Too many local contractors stacking city councils to tap into the taxpayer's money. If we're going through hard times, everyone should be tightening their belts, including state and local governments.
