Regulation is a critically important function that belongs in the PRIVATE SECTOR, not with government -- where it immediately becomes "control" and is taken over (regulatory capture) by those interested in removing your choice and pushing THEIR agenda for reasons of money and/or agenda.
Two examples below, both founded in the 1890s. They've since (esp. UL) become corrupted by government "partnership" but even now are examples of how civil society can provide regulation that is far more EFFECTIVE, far less COSTLY, and without the extreme tyranny that develops when government alone is the regulator.
