The government gives you 𝟐𝟎yrs to pay off your debt. If you haven’t, they try to collect, don’t know how hard they try, but after “awhile”, if there is no action on your loans they write them off and they are “forgiven “!
20 years? Car loans take 6! You can also take years of the loan by paying about $25 to $50 a month above the minimum payment. This guy learned nothing of value in college.
Anyone have proof that these loan forgivenesses are actually happening though? You'd think at least one of them would be spamming the paperwork they received or a screenshot of their balance being zeroed out on social media. Also 20+ years? I paid mine off in like 7 (would have been faster if I didn't have to replace my car a year after graduation.)
The wife and I paid off ours in about the same amount of time and that was while raising 3 kids, paying a mortgage and 2 car loans and starting a business.

I'd be all for this program if it were funded by sacking endowments and selling off University assets.
Instead they get to double down on their lousy credential issuance scheme.
These institutions are fraudulent. Shut Them Down

If you never miss a payment for 20 years there are forgiveness options Edit: maybe 10 years? Not 100% sure
10 years only if you are a public sector employee as I recall.
