The only way this would work is if Trump is arrested (presumably for violating his bail due to something he would post that would be mischaracterised), and while he is supposedly "arrested" they would orchestrate this fake assassination. and since Trump is under "arrest" he would be able to come out and claim he is safe.
This would also work as a escalating dare as the fake patriots from 3-letter agencies start burning down the cities, daring Trump to expose the double.
Once Trump comes out and says that he was never arrested, and that it was his double - with the Dems seizing on it to paint him as fraudulent - then it will be ripe to expose other doubles currently in official positions.
I think they already tried to kill him and Trump and the military have the communications with them talking about killing him. Now that needs to be made public asap for a grand awakening red pill.
