Yes, but it's much more than simply "breathing" those.

Trees are actually made of the carbon they pull from the atmosphere. Trees grow IN the ground. They don't come FROM the ground. (other than a few nutrients in the soil)

That's right. Even in 3rd grade I wasn't taught the full truth about it 🤣

IIRC Photosynthesis simply gave the trees energy to produce oxygen & retain the captured carbon.
