God is extending Himself, reaching down from His place of royalty, and reach out to man.
Man is reclined back, leg knee shielded toward God, the arm closest to God not even supported by its own muscle at the shoulder, but lazily propped up on the knee. The wrist is limp. The fingers apathetic. All man needs to do is extend his finger at the finger joint, one of the smallest joints in the body. All he has to do. And he's hesitant.
Yet man is still propping himself up, not laying down. His next and head are forward, not away. He is looking toward God, not ashamed. Man deep down craves God, but we get in our own way.
Still God pursues us.
2 Samuel 14:14 "We must all die; we are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God will not take away life, and he devises means so that the banished one will not remain an outcast."
