Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat

-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.

-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I think listening to instruments is important for the brain. If she can attend live music events or obtain older soundtracks that say original recording, all the better. When I was pregnant with my son I would go to classical concerts in the area and let him listen. I remember , I was a little into my 6th month and went to hear a concert by Vermont Philharmonic because a man in our church played the clarinet and a number of us went to hear, when Dvorák's "The Planets" played I thought he was doing gymnastics while conducting in there. It is good to hear the lyrics too, but I believe strongly in exposing children to beautiful instruments played well. A piano or cello or violin can express such emotion and sense of joy or compassion when played well. When he was 2 and 3 I would put on Souza marching music and we would parade around the small house, waving the flag, it gave him some rhythm .
Yes! Haven't there even been studies which show classical music is good for fetuses and babies. And people of all ages. Not that I trust "scientific" studies these days though, lol.
We just know how it feels to us, little children enjoy singing songs, clapping in rhythm, it makes them happy. Humans created music out of some inner need we were born with, we were created with that, it must serve a purpose.
