Because it is just what it says, a revelation, a revealing of the mysteries of God's plan both past and future. It's to be read with prayer and fasting for the wisdom of spiritual understanding. Just as the Old Testament was knowledge concealed and the New Testament was knowledge revealed. You can't really understand the true meaning of the Old Testament until you read and understand the New Testament.
Just one small example was in Exodus when Moses asked the burning bush who was speaking to him God answered And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. (Exodus 3:14) When Jesus told the Jews their father Abraham rejoiced at his day and was glad to see it they mocked him: Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? - Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (John 8:57-58)
Jesus was saying He was God in the flesh..
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Mathew 1:23)
