I was going to post the exact same thing, but you beat me to it, so I'll just say thank you. I live it every day - "I just don't want to hear about it".
Over the years, I've learned to not dump too much on people but if they go there first I'll "one up them" to pique their interest. Some are ready to absorb more, others completely shut down and avoid me.
"I just don't want to hear about it"
Totally!
I'm amazed by the cognitive dissonance of people in my circle... because as a general rule, I don't associate with dumbasses.
I think the stress of daily life has reached critical mass... they're "already pulled over, they can't pull over any more!!!" - or more accurately, they're completely overwhelmed with both the day to day bs (especially the war on their children) AND the heaviness of that impending sense of doom lurking in the background.
They can't put their finger on it, but it is most certainly there.
They don't come here... they don't have Q...they might not even have a good connection to God - so they're quite literally experiencing hell right now... and it hasn't even gotten bad yet.
Pray they see the light... and that it peers through all the static of modern life.
