Not saying this salt water intrusion will affect everyone in south Louisiana BUT Dumb bel Edwards has applied for Federal emergency declaration. https://gov.louisiana.gov/index.cfm/newsroom/detail/4269 https://lailluminator.com/2023/09/22/saltwater-intrusion/
Want anyone who might be affected to know ahead so that you can order or build water filtration system. I don't trust Dumb bel and I sure as hell don't trust the Feds. My husband and I ordered both a water filtration system and 3 extra months of food because that is how long this problem is forecast to last at the longest. Grocery stores on the West Bank and other areas are already getting crazy. We live in a different area in south Louisiana but I predict it will get just as nuts.
I was in NOLA a few months ago and was shocked to see the degraded condition of the city, roads, derelict buildings etc. so sad. Now this… very sorry this is happening in your home. Praying for you and your community.
Thank-you, Bluridgegirl. Thankfully our small town about an hour from NOLA is still pretty safe and well kept. NOLA has had Democrat mayors since the 1800s. It was the "Queen City" until Moon Landrieu father of Mary and Mitch, took office in 1970. He managed in 2 terms to turn the city from one where people, including children, could walk downtown and feel safe to the cesspit it has become.
I was married there and have been there 6 times in the last 10 years.
Can confirm they are intentionally ruining that fine city.
If the government brings in free cans of Anheuser Busch water, please remember Bill Gates just bought a lot of AB stock and try to find other water.
Hell no to Busch - thanks for the reminder!
Watching the water...
100% The scary thing is that the Miss. River supplies water to 32 states!
The cheapest way is using bleach. All you have to do is several drops to a gallon. But of course, it might not taste good so filtration system is best.
The thyroid needs iodine. Chlorine (as well as fluorine and bromine) will take iodine's place making one even more deficient.
Have you used the iodine pills before. It is staining everything and hard to melt. Sits on the bottom.
Only use bleach in a pinch. Suggest water pumps.
What Doctors Fail to Tell you about Iodine and your Thyroid by Robert Thompson is a great read. He recommends Terry Naturally Tri-iodine.
My holistic doctor told us about Iodine also. That's a pill not going to disinfect the water. We use water pumps and uv light powered by battery but water pump better.
Tried iodine pills before but it's hard to get it to melt.
Oops, I didn't go back to your original post. I guess that wasn't helpful. Would a liquid iodine work better for your purpose?
Oh yes. Would definitely.
Thank-you for the info. Copied and pasted to my notes!
Thank-you and we have povidone iodine!
