Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I've got two left feet, but was taught and could dance a tame version of the Jitterbug. Hated disco, so was very happy to see a swing revival with Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers, etc. Always wanted to take a ballroom dancing class to really learn the JB and all those other wonderful old dances.
I, too, have eclectic music tastes and listen to all kinds of stuff. My favorite classical would have to be the Carmina Burana. When I was in High School, all the local school bands and choirs got together and performed it. Was awesome, gave me goosebumps. Later learned it was written in low latin and low german and was a rather erotic piece for the time. Good thing none of us knew old latin or german! 😄
🤣 I took ballroom dancing and can do the basic cha cha. I lived in very small town and the local dance teacher was a celebrity. Took ballet and tap K-12, skipped a couple years when I was older. She taught ballroom and most people took it in 6th or 7th grade. I learned ballet and tap but can't keep time with the music. All & all it was good for me because I was moving. By the time I was in high school 81-85 dancing was what ever you liked. We had a dance every Saturday night (fundraiser for senior class trip). We were dorks in between the parting. The DJ played anything from top 40 to Skynyrd. When "soul train" type music came on we did the dance like on the show.
It's amazing how different music was from your age to mine. I've never heard of the bands you mentioned.
"Eclectic" that's the reason for my username. I say Elvis recorded Moody Blue for me. I'm everything that song sings about. My poor hubby. Nice chatting have great day☺️
Brian Setzer was with the Stray Cats before he went on his own. Check him and the others out, you might like them.
Was a delightful chat. You have a great day, as well! :)
