Id say because someone had to be chosen. Trump nominated McCarthy. And we all know the influence Trump has. Personally i think ever since he realized how deep the swamp really was and how many infiltrators were in his campaign he made the conscious decision to put them in various spotlights. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
