Drugs with the same active ingredient are still available behind the counter. Pseudoephedrine was removed from the shelf because it is an ingredient sought by Papa Smurf and his ilk. You can buy it but they make you sign a book so they can make sure you're not procuring ingredients for your local Heisenberg type chemist.
The crappy one they want to ban is not the one you ask the pharmacist for. Pharm has real Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) the meth houses want to add to their product. No wonder they want it. It actually works.
My theory is that most OTC cold and flu meds contain Phenylephrine and if this ingredient is deemed unsafe it could clear the shelves just in time for cold and flu season. With a lack of OTC meds, people will seek alternatives which likely would involve a COVID test, jab, and super scary death sniffles. Then it's drop boxes and absentee ballots out the whazoo. Sudafed is available behind the counter but supply chain issues will result. Just a dummies theory.
Phenylephrine is garbage. It's totally ineffective. It was put on the shelves when they put Sudafed under the counter. I assume you're not old enough to remember when Nyquil and other cold medicines actually worked? Before phenylephrine. Just get you some Sudafed and stash it. Another very effective herbal that works great for me is Umcka. I prefer the liquid drops but they have chewables, cough syrup, etc. You can get it at Amazon or your local health food store.
Next: remember when Bandaids actually didn't fall off as soon as you put them on because they stuck to skin? Remember when they stuck so well you'd rip them off fast to avoid pain?
I'm old enough to remember being able to buy paregoric. I'm just thinking if they remove all the OTC cold and flu meds people will seek a pharmacist or MD. Once under the care of a jab happy practitioner, it's 2020s shenanigans all over again. And maybe that's the plan. Just in time to roll out the drop boxes, lockdowns, mandates, etc.
I'd agree if they were getting rid of something that works but they're not. Apparently people have been after them for years to dump this stuff and they're finally doing it. I don't trust the FDA as far as I could throw them but I don't think they're up to hanky panky here.
This crap doesn't work anyway. You need to ask for "real sudafed" from the pharmacist. No prescription, but pharmacist does have to get your signature when you buy it and it can only be purchased once a week.
I'm a nurse and I rarely get sick but the average Normy has to consume pills any time their nose gets a little drippy. Netty pots work. Tesalon pearls work. Whiskey, peppermint, and locally sourced honey does wonders. It might not do anything for the cold but sure does make you feel better.
No worries because it is a highly ineffective med anyway. Useless. Ask the pharmacist for real Sudafed if you want what works. No prescription but you do sign for it. And combine it with over the counter Claritin D if you are completely awful and can sleep. Just suggestions. Have done both. Remember when you could take Contac and get real relief? Good old days. And you know how Dayquil makes you feel like shit? It is this stuff in it that they want to ban, that makes you feel like that. Plus the yellow and red food coloring irritant!! Ugh. Nasty.
Bring back Actifed. It actually works.

Take quercitin with zinc instead. Both OTC. I am not a doctor, so do your own research on the benefits.
