Israel must be very careful in its response to the current Palestinian initiative. Israel holds immense and overpowering military assets to deal with this but they must be used in measure and as required. To launch an all-out, no-holds-barred offensive (as the current center-right government is likely to do) could lead to atrocities and accusations of genocide. In this digital age it would only take a few horrifying pictures of innocents caught in the carnage going viral for world opinion to turn against Israel. I have no dog in this fight but this fight could easily spin out of control and pull the entire world into flames if cooler heads do not prevail.

The whole mess with Israel is so confusing but it's clear that on one side you've got the NeoCons and NeoLibs supporting Israel and yet their lackeys on the far left are aggressively against it and supporting Palestine, as do the very few genuine skinheads out there on the "far right".
To go all in supporting either side, so far as I can tell, is to take a Deep State approved position on the matter.
No. The Israeli people are besieged. Their leaders and intel services may be corrupt bad actors....they may even be as bad as ours.
But the PEOPLE? They want peace. They don't celebrate the success of terror/military forces in slaughtering hundreds of civilians in sneak attacks on a sunny Saturday afternoon. In fact, they have a tendency to go Left (old-fashioned, beatnic pacifist Left) then turn right when new atrocities are committed.
The inbred slobbering culture of envy and hate PREFERS perpetual war. (90% of Gaza/"Palestinians" are Jordanian and Syrian).
The "Palestinians" would have their own country by now, (with all sorts of services still funded by Israel) except for the ONE sticking point: Israel requires an admission that Israel and Israelis have a right to EXIST, and the in-breds won't agree to it.
This is not a well-informed comment. I have known many immigrants from Palestine for 20 years, and they all want peace and sanity. The bishop of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in North America (archpastor of all Orthodox Christian immigrants from Palestine) has advocated for a two-state solution. Your comments about Israel sound vastly better informed than what you have said about Palestinians.
I'm just paying attention to information that you ignore.
That "2 state solution" keeps breaking down because the "Palestinians" won't agree that Israel/Israelis deserve a commitment that they have a right to exist.
Supported by the fact the the people of Gaza, etc, continue to VOTE for bloody Hamas, politically....and this weekend is an awful time to make your argument....the "regular folks" in Gaza are all over the internet, celebrating the public abuse and humiliation of 20+ young Israeli women just kidnapped and transported to Gaza. Animals.
That's an insult to animals. They're monsters, plain and simple, and I'm sick and tired of people ignoring the blatantly obvious.
