Israel is a people. It is the people through which God determined He would offer salvation to the world. The country Israel is full of who? The prophecies said that Israelites would return to their land and they would retain their culture and language after having been dispersed across the world. The Bible is also very clear on supporting Israel. Genesis 12:1-3 says that God will bless those that bless Israel and curse those that curse Israel.
The first part of God's promise to Abraham was land. Exodus 23:28-31 describes the borders as from the Red Sea to the Sea of Philistines and from the wilderness to the Euphrates. The World Economic Forum, the IMF and the European Union take the top 3 places in that category.
