I just started working at a small hardware store just outside of Birmingham Alabama. There are no safety or contingency plans in place for what to do if we have a violent attack, et cetera.
I AM carrying, even though it's against the rules. Of course. I will not tell anybody.
There are no code words or radio codes for those of us working at the front, such as an alert for incoming threats, to take cover, etc.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel, and I am sure someone here has already invented what I'm talking about?
Any input as to how to even approach management and a copy of a handout or template would be great.
I would print out articles about some of the recent store shootings like the Tops Market attack and approach your manager with those. Otherwise it might be viewed as coming out of the blue and cast suspicion on YOU as someone who might be a shooter. Especially if you get caught carrying. I mean, if you were planning a shooting wouldn't you want to know a store's safety strategy? Sorry to put a damper on your good intentions but that's just my take on it.
