They do allow gun ownership... but citizens are required to have their guns stored at a gun dealer and/or shooting range and are only allowed to check out their guns if they have papers / licenses for a hunting trip.
Because of these rules - yeah no one owns a gun because what is the point to own a gun when its basically just a tool you can rent while at the shooting range.
Only about 2% of the Israeli population is legally armed, outside the IDF. It isn't easy, being ALLOWED to own or carry firearms and they were all told "don't worry, the IDF will protect you" 🙄

I thought all Israelis had to serve in the military for a period of time. Are they allowed to keep their guns when done with service?
I think they open carry in Israel.
