There are other manufacturers of 5.56. Lake City is the sole supplier of NATO and our military.
Lake City only does commercial sales when there is a surplus to sell. Makes sense they are stopping commercial sales due to conflict in the Middle East.
I see stories like there is going to be shortage, which is fear mongering. Don't panic buy. Panic buying drives up the prices. You should already have all you need if you "prep" like the rest of us anons.
It was obvious when Olin took over LCAAP that is when the 150 fun boxes came out. They also have contracts w/ FBI etc.. LCAAP also produces larger caliber ammo. i forget all the calibers, but I believe the produce for belt fed applications....
I wondef what is happening upstream at the powder plants?
A lot of what you see at the store is XM not M which means it is out of tolerance for the military but still safe to use.
There will inevitably still be XM batches that will be rejected due to quality. These will hit the market.
The M193 and M855 will become scarce.
This is not sudden news as it was released a couple months back. If it has anything to do with the Middle East that conflict has been planned for a long time.
Here we go again. I haven't shot a round in three years. Just buying

Not worried as there are many more options for 5.56.
Never even tried Winchester in that caliber in all my years.
Oddly enough my go to is made in Israel...IMI
